MySpace takes aim at world's largest online Atheist social group
Reason number #213 as to why I hate MySpace - MySpace is deleting atheist groups from it's social networking website. In addition, MySpace has deleted the personal accounts for several key members of the Atheist and Agnostic group. Odd, they haven't touched Christian groups. In fact, MySpace has vowed to protect the largest Christian group on their site from being attacked. I'm not sure, but this seems like religious persecution. I would expect to see a lawsuit in the near future against MySpace if this isn't resolved quickly.

Airline pilot tries to talk to "god" while in the air
A pilot was trying to speak to god while flying a jet-liner and was immediately restrained by the rest of the crew and a couple of passengers. Obviously, this is part of a reaction to the Sept 11th incident in the United States. Isn't it odd, though, that it's only in the context of a large terrorist plot that we start becoming worried about people speaking to god? When President Bush says he's speaking to god, isn't his impact on global society so far greater than that of a pilot on one jet-liner that we should be taking whatever actions necessary to remove him from power?

Atheist Teen fights against Silent Reflection and Prayer in schools in Chicago
Looks like the folks in Texas are not alone.
"Her lawsuit challenging the new Silent Reflection and Student Prayer Act in Illinois has already resulted in a temporary injunction blocking the law's mandatory moment of silence for the 13,000 students in Township High School District 214. Now, she and the No. 1 atheist activist in Illinois -- her father, Rob -- are going after a bigger prize: They want the law struck down as unconstitutional."

Texas couple appeals ruling protecting moment of silence in schools
Stating that it amounts to 'required prayer'. That's just silly, as long as the school isn't forcing actual prayer on a student, I see no harm.

Science is one step closer to creating life in a lab
Scientists created a full DNA strand with instructions for reproduction from scratch. This is an enormous step forward towards creating artificial life in a lab. Maybe intelligent design will become a valid theory... An intelligent being (man) designed life in a lab. Kind of ends the controversy, doesn't it?
